Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Day brings family together, whether in person or through technology. Here we see Miss Evie on Skype singing her ABC's from Washington, DC all the way to Indiana!
A lovely meal was shared with loved ones!
This yummy birthday special was in honor of Grandpa Charlie and Karen's upcoming birthdays. What is it you ask? A Spumplellow! A spice cake with a pumpkin pie in the center on top of an apple pie in a yellow cake! Success! Read about it in a news paper article and couldn't resist giving it a try.

The newest nephew in the family, Blaise, carries a birthday gift to Karen. What a cutie, and we are so glad they were able to make the trip to visit Indiana!

Who Knew?

It's hard to believe that it was more than twelve years ago that in between chasing wild Eric around and watching Peyton Manning in his rookie season, we were making selections for our brand new home, thinking that each decision had to last FoREveR!! Who knew forever would arrive in what seems to be A BLINK OF AN EYE?!
As time marched on, Sarah's horse-themed little girls room was transformed into a delightful young lady's room, and the cowboy-themed bedspreads in Eric's room were replaced with masculine solids. When we moved from our heavily wallpapered late '60's home, we thought wallpaper would never again appear on our walls, but here it is warmly welcoming our visitors through the back hall - and never did I think PEACOCKS would grace my walls; not by choice, anyway! To top off the change, I decided that with the amount of time I spend in my laundry room, it might as well be nice and comfty for ME ! It's amazing how a little update can make such a BIG difference!
I guess the moral of the story is two-fold. 1. Enjoy each day to its fullest, as time really does pass in an instant. 2. Never say never because you just might find a moment when change really does feel good!

Dessert Nite...YUM!

While browsing in a kitchen supply store earlier, I was motivated to try a special cake creation. Okay, it may not look exactly like the commercial photo that was my inspiration, but next time....watch out - it will be perfect. Today's version was an experiment, so each layer implemented a different technique. Based on the final result, I now know which technique worked the best! Regardless of the woozy checkerboard, it tasted great! Best of all, it was shared with friends, who can all agree on one thing.....never a dull meal at this house!! It was great having you over Adam and Drew!
I hope all of you see something this week that inspires you to try something new!
