Braggin' Rights

As Sarah's senior year comes to a close, many activities have been keeping her busy. She just finished her final track season last night with two good hurdle events....congrats. Her academics are basically concluded with the completion of her SIX AP exams over the last couple of weeks. Tonight she was honored at the Senior Awards night with the following SIX awards:
1. National Merit Scholarship Commendation Award
2. National French Level 5 10th Place Award
3. State of Indiana French Award
4. Top World Language Student Award
5. State of Indiana Future Problem Solving Program 2nd Place Award
6. Academic Award for >4.0 GPA
Her Magna Cum Laude academic cords for her graduation robe were also handed out, and they will accompany the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society cords. While Kevie could not be present, his parent's drove in for the occasion. Also present were a very bored Eric, a happy Grandma R and KJ. (Hope you feel better soon Papa!) Your presence made her evening that much more special.
One of her former teachers told me today that Sarah's passion and work ethic is commendable. When you are used to seeing it, it is easy to take it for granted. With that in mind, I wanted to brag for Sarah tonight, since I know "braggin" is not her norm.
WAY TO GO SARAH!!! We are SO VERY PROUD of you!!!!
Congrats to Andrew too for receiving several impressive scholarships!!!

Sailing Season is Here!

Sunday was a beautiful day to spend outside, so we headed out to wax "Short Wave."  A few hours and sore muscles later, she is just like brand new.  Best of all...the following compliment by way of old dad.."Check this out and notice the fine work of my crew, both in the cleaning of the boat and taking the pictures!"

I really enjoyed the day and thanks for inviting me!

All In Fun!

Earlier this year Kevin decided too many usually chippper people were down in the dumps.  In typical Kevie fashion, he decided to remedy the situation himself....by throwing a big party JUST FOR FUN.  Given the nature of our property, a Derby Party seemed like the perfect choice.  Early May weather in Indiana is always iffy, so with many helping hands, we had a PLAN, and a PLAN B (in red denoting emergency contingency).  But all was well.  Not only did the sun shine down, but all the smiles and laughs definitely brightened up our little corner of the earth.  I do believe a good time was had by all......and thanks to the foresight of two young men (Adam and Eric) AUTISM SPEAKS received a $300 donation!  Thanks for coming out!
