The first was Merlyn Olson. Over the past few years, Merlyn and I shared laughs and great discussions during our trips back from his dialysis. Merlyn's best years were behind him, having lived a full life and getting to see his grandkids grow-up. While it is a great blessing that he no longer suffers in his earthly body which had been failing him for years, it weighs heavy in my heart that I won't have any more Merlyn moments.
The loss of our friend, Dr. Stephen Williams, is such a tragic loss! Cancer is such an ugly disease and he had devoted his life to trying to find a way to prevent it, saving many from it in the meantime. His funeral was truly a celebration of an incredible man's impact on this world, from renowned cancer research physician, to wonderful husband, and father. He lived his life with such grace, humility, and sincerity. We are all better off for having known him.

Okay, on a lighter note.....Two Funerals, and a Concert is the title up there.....so what about a concert?
Kevie decided that I needed a little pick-me-up, (part of his CPP - Carolyn Pampering Program) so he decided we should head up to Chicago for the night, and Thievery Corporation was playing at the Aragon Ballroom , so we went. If you like a talented drummer, and a LOT of bass guitar, this concert is for you. Luckily, we got there early enough that we found chairs to sit in so we did NOT have to participate in the mass spinning on the main floor. All I can say is that it was an interesting people watching evening that was successful at letting me a few hours to forget the sadness from earlier in the day.
